Nicholas De Maria it's a painter It is Italian artist. He was born in 1954 in Foglianise in the province of Benevento. 

In the seventies he moved to Turin where he graduated in medicine. After meeting with Mario and Marisa Mertz decides to devote himself completely to his true passion, art.  

In 1979 he was invited by the critic Achille Bonito Oliva to join the Transavant-garde even if his works will always be mainly inspired by theabstractionism

Nicola De Maria describes himself as  'who writes a poem with his fingers dirty with color'. In fact, each painting or environmental work is the transposition into lively and brilliant colors of the artist's poetic vein.

The artist with his works wants overcoming the limits of the canvas to enter into a relationship with the surrounding space. In fact the artist almost never uses frames for his paintings and sometimes paints the edges and the back. Likewise, the dimensions of the works vary from small to large and his painting often expands to entire rooms.

Nicola De Maria has exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1980, 1988 and 1990, at Documenta 7 in Kassel in Germany in 1982, at the XVI Biennial of São Paulo in Brazil in 1981, at the IV Biennale of Sydney in Australia in 1982 and at the Rome Quadrennial in 2005 and 2012.
