Giuseppe Amadio biography
JOSEPH AMADIO
Giuseppe Amadio is a contemporary artist born in 1944 in Todi, a town in Umbria where he still lives and works today. His career has been influenced by a varied artistic education, which includes technical-artistic schools and courses in design and advertising graphics. Thanks to these experiences, Amadio has acquired cross-disciplinary skills ranging from industrial signage to furniture design. His interest in the visual arts manifested itself from a young age, leading him to develop a personal artistic language. His aesthetic sensitivity was further enriched by a collaboration lasting over twenty years with the artist Piero Dorazio. This experience had a significant impact on his career, making him one of the leading figures in the contemporary art scene."
Giuseppe Amadio's works are distinguished by an abstract and conceptual language. After an initial period characterized by a material-gestural poetics, Giuseppe Amadio embarked on an artistic journey that led him towards monochrome extroflexed canvases.
These works, expressions of a unique language, explore unprecedented compositional, chromatic, and spatial dimensions. Amadio uses monochromatic surfaces to create plays of light and shadow, giving his creations a three-dimensional appearance. Each artwork by Giuseppe Amadio is the result of a balance between emotion and rationality, feelings and logic. This approach has made him one of the most fascinating interpreters of contemporary art.
Giuseppe Amadio has participated in numerous exhibitions, both in Italy and abroad, since the 1980s. His exhibitions have reached cities such as Perugia, Milan, Rome, Florence, and Berlin, among others. Thanks to this intense exhibition activity, Giuseppe Amadio's works have been appreciated by both the public and critics. In 2011, Amadio received the prestigious Arts Award Culture Award as Artist of the Year at the Circolo della Stampa in Milan, an accolade awarded by Prof. Carlo Franza, art historian and critic. This award confirmed his prominent role in the contemporary art scene.
Amadio has managed to combine aesthetics and content, creating works that capture the viewer's imagination. His artistic research is based on a continuous exploration of the limits of the canvas, transforming flat surfaces into three-dimensional structures. The monochrome extroflected canvases, which characterize Giuseppe Amadio's works, are the result of a deep reflection on matter and space. This type of visual language represents a meeting point between tradition and innovation, placing Giuseppe Amadio among the most important exponents of contemporary abstract art.
Recently, the works of Giuseppe Amadio have garnered increasing attention from the art market, with a significant rise in his quotations. This phenomenon attests to the importance and relevance of his work in the current context, where artistic research and originality are particularly valued.
