Color, atmosphere and imagination

Riccardo Benvenuti, born in Lucca in 1939, developed a distinctive style of painting characterized by rich color and an interest in images suspended between observation and invention. His compositions present a poetic world in which figures, settings and details intertwine.

Language and artistic exploration

Color has a structural as well as an emotional function: it organizes surfaces, suggests depth and creates atmospheres. Figuration is not the same as realistic description; rather, the images invite a narrative reading based on associations and references.

The artworks and techniques

Alongside the paintings, his graphic work allows us to appreciate the economy of the drawing and the translation of color relationships into printmaking processes. It is useful to specify in each entry whether the work is an original painting, a work on paper or an original print in an edition, without confusing these categories with reproductions.
