Ferdinand Finne biography



Ferdinand Oscar Finne was a Norwegian author, painter, graphic designer, decorator and theatrical costume designer. He was born in Oslo in 1910.

After his parents' divorce, he moved with his mother to London where he was initiated into an artistic career by the Austrian expressionist painter Oskar Kokoschka .

Back in Oslo, he studies at the National Art Academy together with the Norwegian artists Per Krogh and Jean Heiberg . After a stay in Paris, with Fernand Léger, he debuted as an artist in 1954.

From around 1960 he lived for 25 years on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

In 1990 Ferdinand Finne had a very successful solo exhibition at the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter.

In 1991 he was decorated Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav. Many of his works are preserved at the National Gallery of Norway .

Ferdinand Finne died in Oslo in 1999.
