Giuliano Della Casa Biography
Giuliano Della Casa is an Italian painter, ceramist, and illustrator. He was born in Modena in 1942. He studied at the Istituto d'Arte di Modena and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, attending the sculpture class of Umberto Mastroianni.
In the 1970s, he met Adriano Spatola, a poet, publisher, and literary critic, with whom he began an artistic partnership that started with collaboration at Edizioni Geiger and led to the creation of illustrated books.
In these years, he collaborates with Claudio Parmiggiani and Mario Molinari and associates with artists such as Carlo Cremaschi, Carlo Candi, Franco Guerzoni, Gian Pio Torricelli, Franco Vaccari, to whom are later added Luigi Ghirri, Lucio Riva, Wainer Vaccari, Davide Benati.
The artistic production of Giovanni Della Casa continuously evolves between image and poetry, enriched by the unique suggestions of both activities, in a creative whirlwind always open to new experiments.
Throughout their artistic career, they experiment in various fields from painting to illustration, from artisanal publishing to ceramics. They illustrate literary monuments such as the manual of Pellegrino Artusi and Gargantua and Pantagruel by Rabelais, create covers, work with writers and poets on the conception of works that intertwine words and images, and design stage sketches for the theater.
He participates in numerous exhibitions both in Italy and abroad, showcasing his entire multifaceted production.
